The Minister of Health, Carolina Dariashas advanced this Wednesday that the second shipment of vaccines against monkey pox will arrive “in the next few weeks” for the distribution of another 7,000 doses among the different autonomous communities.
Spain, he said, has been “the first State to receive the first 5,000 doses of the total of around 12,000 that correspond to it” and that he hopes it will be completed “in the coming weeks” with the second shipment of the 7,000 doses that are missing “to make them available to the autonomous communities.”
Darias explained that the Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA) acquired the monkeypox vaccine with a “very limited production and only for the states”, and the European Union “has already understood what is the centralized sales mechanism” and has made this vaccine available to the states.
In Darias’ opinion, “It is so important to have the vaccinesomething in which the Ministry of Health works with the European Commission, such as the autonomous communities inoculating the monkeypox vaccine they have”.
He stressed that he is “aware of the efforts of the communities” but asks “that this effort be continued in order to reach the maximum number of people who meet the criteria.”
