Ministry Health stated that a patient with the status of a suspected monkeypox in Central Java could not be ascertained whether he had contracted the monkeypox virus until now.
“For further examination and confirming monkeypox or not, a PCR laboratory examination will be carried out to confirm it,” said Ministry of Health spokesman Mohammad Syahril when confirmed in Jakarta, Wednesday (3/8).
Quoting Antara, Syahril, who also serves as the President Director of RSPI Sulianti Saroso Jakarta, said the patient was identified as a 55-year-old man with no history of overseas travel.

The patient with the status of a suspect is currently undergoing treatment in an isolation room at a private hospital in Central Java for the healing process. According to him, the disease could be ordinary smallpox or other diseases.
He also said that the Ministry of Health is still conducting further investigations to determine the type of disease experienced by the patient.
“Until now, we are checking with the Central Java Health Service by officers from the Directorate of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the Ministry of Health,” said Mohammad Syahril.
Confirmed separately, the Director General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health, Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, has yet to comment further on the results of the follow-up investigation.
However, to prevent the spread of monkeypox, as in the case of suspected monkeypox in Central Java, there are several symptoms to watch out for.
Launching the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the symptoms of monkeypox are similar to other smallpox, but milder. The main difference between the symptoms of smallpox and monkeypox is that monkeypox causes swollen lymph nodes (lymphadenopathy) whereas smallpox does not.
“The distinguishing feature of monkeypox infection from smallpox is the development of swollen lymph nodes,” the CDC said.
Symptoms of monkeypox usually appear within 7 to 14 days, but can also range from 5 to 21 days after infection.
Some symptoms of monkeypox to pay attention to:
1. Fever
2. Headache
3. Muscle pain
4. Backache
5. Swollen lymph nodes
6. Hot and cold
7. Fatigue
Then within 1 to 3 days after the fever, the patient will develop a rash. It often starts on the face and then spreads to other parts of the body.
The rash consists of lesions that develop in the following order:
* Macula, or flat discolored lesions
* Papules or lesions that are slightly raised
* Vesicles or lumps with clear fluid
* Pustules or lumps with yellowish discharge
* Scab
The lesions will disappear after drying. Symptoms of monkeypox generally last 2 to 4 weeks and disappear without treatment, as is suspected of monkeypox in Central Java
Jimmy Whitworth, Professor of International Public Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Jimmy Whitworth, said: “Treatment is generally supportive because there is no specific medicine available. However, a vaccine is available that can be given to prevent disease progression.
