There is another risk as well as an effort to prevent the spread of the monkeypox virus, Mother. British health authorities issued new rules for anyone who tested positive for the monkeypox virus or monkeypox to be asked not to have sex until the symptoms disappeared.
New guidance was released Monday (30/5/2022) by the UK’s Health Safety Agency. The agency also recommends that previously infected people continue to use condoms for eight weeks after the virus has passed.
The health agency said the risk to the general public remained low. But people with symptoms should contact a healthcare professional if they notice any unusual rash or lesions.
“This was done as a precautionary measure,” CNBC International quoted the agency as saying, Wednesday.
UK records 71 additional cases monkey pox over last weekend. Until now, the total cases of monkeypox in ‘Queen Elizabeth’s Country’ have become 179 since the first case on 7 May.
The UK now has the highest number of monkeypox cases among non-endemic countries, followed by Spain with 120 and Portugal with 96. According to Our World in Data, as of Monday, there were 555 confirmed and suspected cases of monkeypox in countries outside Africa.
Monkeypox is a rare infectious disease usually found in Central and West African countries. Symptoms include rash, fever, headache, muscle aches, swelling, and back pain.
