Analisadaily.com, Beijing – Two cases of monkeypox were detected in Beijing, China. One of them is an imported case, while the other case is due to close contact.
As reported by Antara, Thursday (8/6), the two case patients are currently still being treated at the hospital and their condition is gradually stabilizing, the Beijing City health authority told the press, Wednesday (7/6). The health authorities, assisted by the local infectious disease control center, conducted an investigation by tracing the source of the disease. Beijing authorities say the monkeypox outbreak poses a low risk. Beijing people have received information about symptoms, treatment methods, and prevention. Beijing is not the first place to find cases of monkeypox in China as a case of the disease was also detected in Chongqing City in September 2022. The Beijing Municipal disease control authority said monkeypox is a self-limited disease and symptoms usually disappear within two to four weeks. However, local people are asked to avoid close contact, especially sexual contact between men, with individuals who have monkeypox and close contact with wildlife in high-risk countries.(RZD)
