REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CIREBON — Cirebon District Health Service, West Java, reported that one resident tested positive monkey pox or monkeypox (mpox). The resident who tested positive for monkey pox is a man aged around 24 years.
The resident is now reportedly undergoing independent isolation at his home, which is in Pamengkang Village, Mundu District, Cirebon Regency. Before being declared positive, on October 25 2023, the resident reportedly experienced symptoms in the form of fever, joint pain, and fluid-filled lesions or lumps appearing on his body.
After receiving information about residents suspected of being exposed to monkey pox, the Cirebon District Health Service (Dinkes) conducted an epidemiological investigation. The Health Office also took samples from these residents for examination at the Health Research and Development Agency (Balitbangkes) of the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes).
“The sample results were declared positive (mpox), one person,” said the Head Cirebon District Health Office Neneng Hasanah, Monday (13/11/2023).
According to Neneng, the Cirebon District Health Office also immediately carried out close contact tracing. Three close contacts were found, namely the mother and two younger siblings of the resident who tested positive for monkey pox. “So far (close contacts) have shown no symptoms mpox,” he said.
Regarding the condition of one resident who tested positive for monkey pox, Neneng said that currently his health is considered good. Therefore, these residents are only undergoing isolation at home. These residents were asked to undergo isolation for approximately 21 days.
Neneng said that the Health Department was still investigating the transmission of the virus mpox related to these residents. So far, he said, information had been obtained that the resident had traveled from Bekasi and Subang.
