“Monkeypox Infection Warning Ahead of LA Pride Event: Get Vaccinated Now”

Ahead of the LA Pride event to be held next month (June), a monkeypox infection warning was issued.

The Los Angeles County Health Department emphasized that LA Pride 2023, an annual LGBTQ festival that starts on the 8th of next month, is now less than a month away, and urged people to get vaccinated against the monkeypox epidemic.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said there have been only three officially reported cases of Mpox infection in the area since March 1.

However, as 14 cases were recently confirmed in Chicago, it is pointed out that we should be wary of the possibility of a resurgence of monkeypox. Monkeypox infection is spread through direct physical contact with an infected person, such as hugging, kissing, or sexual intercourse.

It is known that monkeypox does not spread during the incubation period because it has an incubation period like the Corona 19 virus.

In this regard, the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been researching that monkeypox can infect even during the incubation period up to 4 days before symptoms appear, so they strongly warned that they should be vigilant and cautious.

Monkeypox can infect people of all sexes.

However, among them, men and transgender people who have sex with men and transgender people are classified as a high-risk group with a high probability of infection.

In addition, prostitutes and HIV-infected people are also at high risk of being infected with monkeypox.

The LA County Department of Public Health has urged those who belong to this high-risk group to get the monkeypox vaccination, but since two doses are the best effect, LA Pride is less than a month away, and now is the right time.

The first inoculation can freely administer the second vaccination without a special waiting period.

The monkeypox vaccine does not require disclosure of personal information, so anyone can get the vaccine free of charge, regardless of insurance or immigration status.

Vaccination locations are available at Myturn.ca.gov.

LA Pride 2023 will start on June 8 and continue throughout June in major LA locations.
