SPREAD case monkey pox in the United States could provide clues that monkeypox may be a new sexually transmitted disease. Although some health officials say, the virus may be contained before it becomes an epidemic.
Some parties are worried that the spread of monkeypox will spread like other sexually transmitted diseases, namely gonorrhea, herpes, and HIV. However, a number of health experts do not agree with that opinion.
So far, more than 2,800 cases of monkeypox in the US have been reported as part of the international outbreak. About 99% of monkeypox cases occur in men who report having sex with other men or gay men.
As reported by Medical News, the latest clinical evidence does show monkeypox transmission can occur during sexual intercourse. Although further research is needed to confirm that monkeypox is a new sexually transmitted disease.
However, the transmission of the monkeypox virus during sexual intercourse has been confirmed.
The risk of transmission of monkeypox through active sexual contact emphasizes the need to raise awareness among sexually active populations to prevent future outbreaks.
