Cases of monkey pox or monkeypox (mpox) in DKI Jakarta increased. DKI Jakarta Health Department said currently the vaccine monkey pox Starting to be limited to 500 people in the risk group.
“Vaccination will begin to be carried out for 500 people from risk groups in Jakarta over the next week,” said Head of the Surveillance, Epidemiology and Immunization Section of the DKI Jakarta Health Service Ngabila Salama in a written statement, Tuesday (24/10/2023).
Ngabila explained that currently 1,000 doses have been prepared. Each person will receive two doses of the vaccine in stages.
“2 doses are given to 1 person, 4 weeks apart. Because there is currently vaccine stock monkeypox “In Indonesia there are 1,000 doses for 500 people,” he explained.
Regarding the handling of monkey pox cases in Jakarta, the DKI Health Department confirmed that it would monitor close contacts of the cases for symptoms. Monitoring is carried out every day by the sub-district health center.
“When symptoms appear, a laboratory examination is performed, he said.
To break the chain of transmission, every positive case is immediately isolated in hospital. “Even though the case is mild,” he added.
As is known, cases of monkey pox in Jakarta are increasing. Currently, 10 positive cases of monkey pox have been found in Jakarta.
Ngabila explained that as many as nine monkey pox patients were undergoing virginity in the hospital. Meanwhile, one other case has been declared cured.
“Update monkeypox DKI Jakarta as of 24 October 2023 at 10.00 WIB. “There are a total of 10 positive cases,” said Ngabila.
The first positive case of mpox was discovered in Jakarta in August 2022. On 13 October 2023 there was an increase of one case, on 19 October 2023 an increase of one case, on 21 October 2023 an increase of 5 cases and on 23 October 2023 an increase of 2 positive cases.
Meanwhile, 11 people who are suspected of mpox have undergone examination at the PCR laboratory. The details are that nine suspects were found on October 23, while two suspects were found on October 24 2023.
