Monkeydactyl from China, Flying Dinosaur Can Climb Trees

Nationalgeographic.co.id—Paleontological researchers have discovered dinosaur newly discovered fly nicknamed “Monkeydactyl”. According to new research published in Current Biology, this animal is the oldest known creature to have evolved with a thumb that grew opposite.

Nicknamed Monkeydactyl it is likely that this ancient animal species used its dexterity to climb trees, grasp objects, and hunt prey.

The 160 million year old fossil was found in Liaoning, China. Then, the findings were studied by an international team of researchers from the UK, China, Brazil, Denmark, and Japan using X-ray scans to conclude that the fossil actually had a thumb.
