The tracking work carried out by the General Directorate of Public Health of the Community of Madrid has made it possible to determine that most confirmed cases of monkeypox in the region are associated with a sauna which is called ‘Paradise’.
It is located in the central district of the capitalmore concretely in the San Bernardo areaand it is one of the largest establishments dedicated to this type of leisure in the city.
The Minister of Health of the Community of Madrid, Enrique Ruiz Escudero, has announced that “The General Directorate of Public Health is logically going to intervenesince most of the positives are associated with this focus”.
The sauna has been closed
Shortly after those words by Escudero, the Paraíso sauna has confirmed, through a statement published on the social network Twitter, that “Sauna Paraíso will remain closed for the next few days as a precautionary measure before the alert launched by Health for the appearance of infections of the so-called monkey virus in the Community of Madrid because for us the well-being of our clients is a priority”.
The company has also highlighted that appeals “to individual responsibility of each person for prevent the transmission of any infection”.
The establishment was evicted in 2021 due to a massive party
This is not the first time that the Paraíso sauna has been forced to close for health reasons. On January 1, 2021, she was already evicted for holding an illegal party, which brought together 300 peoplein which none of the restrictions were respected against COVID-19 that were in force at the time.
The Madrid’s community sum, at this time, 30 confirmed cases of monkey pox (with laboratory PCR) and 15 other suspected cases who are awaiting the confirmation test for this disease.
