Several cases of monkeypox in Europe, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States have health authorities concerned that the dangerous disease, although not usually life-threatening, may be spreading.
Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Two cases of monkey pox have been found in DKI Jakarta. After first being discovered on August 20 2022, there is now a second case reported on October 14 2023.
In response to this, the DKI Jakarta Health Service asks for vigilance, especially health workers (nakes) in early identification of potential transmission of monkey pox.
“The doctor who finds the patient for the first time must of course have the knowledge to be aware of diseases that are still widely found and also anticipate new diseases,” said Dwi in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Monday (16/10/2023).
Dwi also emphasized the importance of socialization and coordination with various parties so that health workers are able to follow up correctly and quickly to break the chain of transmission in the community. Apart from that, it is also important to prepare logistical support and maintain laboratory capacity.
“Starting from the ability to collect correct specimens to the distribution of specimens or samples to selected laboratories. Apart from that, examining laboratories are also expected to carry out examinations quickly and accurately,” he said.
Dwi hopes that there will be good communication and coordination between health workers in hospitals, laboratories and the field, to guard against the spread of monkey pox.
“We hope that we can all strengthen each other’s coordination and together keep Jakarta in good condition,” said Dwi.
