Monkey Pox Outbreak in DKI Jakarta: Latest Updates and Local Transmission Cases

Liputan6.com, Bandung – Currently, monkey pox or monkeypox is becoming a public concern, especially the Indonesian people. The reason is, some time ago cases of monkey pox were discovered in DKI Jakarta.

Residents who were exposed to monkey pox have been isolated and are being monitored by the DKI Jakarta Health Service. Monitoring of the patient’s condition is also continuously carried out by Mpox expert consultants from internal medicine specialists and genital skin specialists.

“The patient was detected early and quickly using PCR and the next day he was immediately isolated in a hospital in Jakarta until he recovered,” he said, quoting Coverage 6.

Head of the Surveillance, Epidemiology and Immunization Section of the DKI Jakarta Health Office, Ngabila Salama, also said that the patient received extra care during isolation. The reason is that it takes about 3 weeks for the patient to recover.

“It takes 2-4 weeks, an average of 3 weeks to heal. The definition of healing is when all wounds are completely dry and new skin appears. “Patients receive the best therapy from Mpox expert consultants from internal medicine specialists and genital skin specialists,” he said.

It is currently known that one new case of monkey pox has no history of visiting abroad or outside the city. The patient is a resident of DKI Jakarta and is the second case to occur in Indonesia after the first discovery in 2022.

“After one case last year was discovered in Jakarta, it quickly became clear import case due to transmission abroad, monkey pox patients in DKI this time due to local transmission. “There is no history of going abroad or out of town,” he said.
