Suffering patients monkey pox must isolate at home or hospital to prevent transmission. So, how long do monkey pox patients have to be isolated until they are completely cured?

Chairman of the MPox PB IDI Task Force, Hanny Nilasari, said that isolation for monkey pox patients must of course be carried out according to the direction of the treating doctor. Isolation, he said, can last 14 to 21 days depending on the condition of the patient’s skin lesions.

“The criteria for recovery are, for example, if the patient has had no fever for 3 x 24 hours. Then there are no new skin lesions,” said Hanny in an online media briefing, Tuesday (7/11).

“So there should be no skin abnormalities, nothing red anymore. All the scabs have fallen off, meaning there are scars and there is already new epithelium on the skin.”

According to Hanny, the assessment of recovery criteria for monkey pox patients must be carried out by a doctor and cannot be done alone.

Hanny also said that patients who have been declared cured do not need to undergo another PCR examination.

It is known that the number of cases of monkey pox continues to increase. As of November 6 2023, cases of monkey pox in Indonesia have increased to 35 cases.

This figure consists of 29 confirmed cases in Jakarta, 1 confirmed case in Banten, and 5 confirmed cases in West Java.
