Meanwhile, an Internal Medicine Specialist with a Subspecialist in Tropical and Infectious Diseases at RSCM, Lie Khie Chen, said that the patient who died was not caused by the monkey pox he was suffering from.

Since the initial admission to the hospital, the patient already had comorbidities and worsening health conditions.

He stated that the fatality rate for cases of monkey pox is actually very small.

“This patient did have complications. Indeed, he was in a problematic condition and had to undergo surgery at RSCM, so the patient’s condition that caused his death was not due to monkeypox at all. Because it was caused by other comorbidities,” said Khie Chen.
