Dev Patel, actor known for his role as Jamal in Slumdog Millionaire and nominated for an Oscar, moves to direct and brings us this astonishing action thriller, Monkey Man. A promising first feature film in which he brings on board the excellent actor, comedian and screenwriter Jordan Peele to co-produce. The film which gives pride of place to fight scenes and thrilling chases can be seen from this Wednesday, April 3 at the cinema.
The story :
The film chronicles one man’s quest for revenge against the corrupt leaders who murdered his mother and who continue to systematically victimize the poor and powerless. Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, icon of strength and courage, Monkey Man stars Patel in the role of Kid, an anonymous young man who earns his living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he gets beaten bloody by more popular fighters for money. After years of pent-up rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. With his childhood trauma in full swing, his mysteriously scarred hands spark an explosive campaign of retaliation to settle scores with the men who took everything from him.
