Feeling good, without obvious physical discomfort or considering yourself a healthy person does not guarantee full health, since many diseases, in addition to being asymptomatic, start their process slowly and their detection may be delayed.
According to the information provided by the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Baja California, the population, especially adults, should go to the recommended medical check-ups at least once a year.
Inform that the annual consultation allows to identify risk factors against health in time and not when the disease is present and complications are unavoidable.
The review is carried out in PrevenIMSS offices of each medical unit without the need for an appointment, where an evaluation is made that determines the health status of each person according to their age group and sex, height, body mass index (BMI) , waist measurement, taking blood pressure, glucose or blood sugar levels and cholesterol, among other aspects.
In women, according to their age, they undergo a papanicolaou study and timely detection of breast cancer; the importance of these tests is increased in the case of a hereditary-family history of obesity, cancer, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and diabetes.
Finally, he highlighted that the institutional objective is to prioritize its actions with a preventive vision, before curative and rehabilitation, which entails the possibility of a better quality of life for its beneficiary population.
