The University For All of Monistrol received on Thursday, March 10, Doctor Pierre Garnier, coordinating doctor of the Neurovascular Unit at the Saint-Etienne University Hospital.
It addressed in a precise and detailed way the warning signs of Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA), as well as the prevention of the CVA, the medical and surgical treatments, and the rehabilitation and the reconstruction after a CVA.
35 people were then able to debate with Dr. Garnier. The doctor insisted on the importance of very rapid treatment of the patient as soon as the – brutal – signs of stroke appear. Both treatment and reconstruction largely depend on this speed of treatment.
Strokes are now better identified and known thanks to scanners and MRIs. Neurovascular units (Le Puy, Saint-Etienne, Roanne, Lyon, etc.) are one of the central elements of stroke treatment.
