The Slovak representative Monika Škáchová narrowly missed the medal in the final of the C1 category at the World Water Slalom Championships in Čunovo, Bratislava. The 21-year-old Liptáček finished fourth and was one second and seven hundredths short of the bronze medal.

Gabriela Satková, the Czech Republic, was so much better. German Elena Apelová won, despite two penalty seconds, which she did not avoid on goal number 10. Silver travels to Great Britain thanks to Mallory Franklin.

Škáchová showed the best ride and achieved the best result of her senior career. On the turbulent water with 23 goals, she left enough time for a demanding combination of the twelfth and thirteenth goals, where she had to repair the top of the ship, but in the end she managed the finals without penalty seconds. In the finish, she placed third out of four competitors who had already completed their rides. Later, she was overtaken by only 19-year-old Czech Satková and thus Škáchová lost the medal.

“I have challenged passages and I am therefore satisfied with my performance. I tried to show my ride and I do not notice the surroundings. I was ‘flooded’ a bit, the cylinder changed, I had to repair the boat. I didn’t make the perfect run again, but I tried to save it somehow. But overall, I feel good about what I showed. ” stated Monika Škáchová for RTVS.

The ninth best Olympian from Tokyo Škáchová had previously not avoided two penalty seconds in the semifinals and lagged behind the fastest Alsa Minazova from the Russian Canoe Federation by 3.54 seconds.

The other two Slovaks Zuzana Paňková a Simona Glejtekova remained at the gates of the final, as they occupied the eighteenth, respectively. 22nd place. Both scored four penalty seconds for “knocking” as they passed through the gates.

The main favorite Australian, Jessica Fox, did not even make it to the finals in a shocking way. The Olympic winner from Tokyo caught the fifty on the eighth goal and that pushed her to the 26th place.
