Mönichkirchen – At 1,000 meters altitude: mountain rescue members from southern Lower Austria honored

85 members of local mountain rescue departments from the industrial district were brought before the curtain as part of a large ceremony in the Mönichkirchen parish church.

“Let us remain in his peace!” As always, when there is something to celebrate, Dean Dietmar Orglmeister chooses these words to end the service. This was the case on Sunday, as the Lower Austria/Vienna Mountain Rescue Service brought deserving members from the industrial district and Vienna to the curtain as part of the traditional “Sturm & Kastanien” festival. Together with BH deputy Eva Bauer and MPs Susanne Haase (SPÖ) from Vienna and Hermann Hauer (ÖVP), state manager Matthias Cernusca honored 85 mountain rescuers for 25, 40 and 50 years of commitment.

Country manager Cernusca pointed out that a lot has changed in the past decades, for example in the area of ​​technology – “but the basic foundation, the willingness to help, has remained the same.” And that despite some difficult operations: “It is It’s not fun to regularly put yourself in danger!” At the same time, the country manager appealed to remain loyal to the organization: “These awards should not be the end point, but motivation to keep going.”

Among those honored were the two former state managers Wolfgang Ladenbauer and Gernot Alfons, the mayors Hans Gneihs (Wartmannstetten) and Andreas Graf (Mönichkirchen) as well as the secondary school director i. R. and former mayor Florian Bauer (St. Corona am Wechsel).
