Money Blog: Selling in the Bear Market? Why Despair is a Bad Counselor
Those who have set up their finances conservatively, have a diversified portfolio and a long investment horizon can sit out the bear phase well.
I own 240 worth of mutual funds‘000 francs, individual titles worth 75‘000 francs and cash worth 230‘000 francs. Should I sell funds? I expect prices to go down further. I don’t need the money for many years. I wonder if prices will ever come close to those late 2021 levels? Can prices go down much further? I own a house, the mortgage is still 120‘000 francs. The individual stocks are predominantly blue chips. I’ve lost money time and time again by selling at the worst possible time and telling myself I’ll never do it again. Reader question from AK
