Money, sexual relationships and immense cruelty intertwine in the murders of Jana and Ivo. Their bodies were found yesterday near the Sofia village of Lozen. Chavdar Boyadjiev is charged with the murder of both of them.
The 18-year-old schoolgirl went missing around 8pm on Thursday and was killed 2 hours later. She was declared wanted by her mother a day later – on Friday at 15:30, and the accused of the girl’s murder was arrested after 6 hours – at 22:10 in the evening of the same day.
Five hours after killing Yana, Chavdar shot 27-year-old Ivo. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor’s Office announced today the details of the crimes.

On August 4 at 3:30 p.m. in the capital’s 8th district, Yana’s mother reported that she had not been in contact with her daughter since the night before.
“She is worried because he is not in the habit of not being in contact with her and being away from home for a long time. The last time there was information about her at 8 p.m. last day, August 3, when she left a capital mall, getting into the car of an unidentified person with a nickname Chobi”, said Miroslav Danailov, deputy director of the SDVR.
The investigators quickly realized that the nickname Chobi belonged to Chavdar Boyadjiev. They found the car the man was using and traced that he traveled to Burgas with the same car.
“After coordinated actions with the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Burgas, the person Chavdar Boyadzhiev, driving a Hyundai car, was detained at the entrance to the city of Aytos”, added Mikhail Naumov, head of the “Crimes against the Person” sector, GDNP.
Chavdar Boyadzhiev’s car was searched during his arrest.
“The search was carried out from 10:10 p.m. to 3:50 a.m. on August 5. Evidence was seized – a pistol with a magazine with 1 cartridge and 1 cartridge in the barrel. Clothes of the accused Boyadzhiev, a box of cartridges and a bank card in the name of the murdered boy were seized.” , said Hristo Krastev, Deputy City Prosecutor of Sofia.
At this point, the investigators do not know that Ivo Kolev has been killed, and they begin the search for the man. They also searched the home of Chavdar Boyadjiev.
“Clothes and sneakers were found in the washing machine, which reacted to blood. We found the phone of the victim Ivo Kolev at 79 km. on the highway “Trakia” near Pazardjik and a phone used by the suspect in a garbage can in the “Druzhba” district, he added Miroslav Danailov, Deputy Director of the SDVR.
Even before the investigators in Burgas, Chavdar Boyadjiev told about the two murders and where he left the bodies of 18-year-old Yana and 27-year-old Ivo Kolev. He was taken to the SDVR for questioning, where he made a full confession, after which he was charged.
“The accused gave detailed explanations in his procedural capacity as an accused, telling in detail how the two murders were committed,” added Hristo Krastev, Deputy City Prosecutor of Sofia.
In addition to how he committed the murders, Boyadzhiev told the investigators his motives for them, which were financial relations.
“What is typical. This young girl, provoked by him, made sexual videos to upload to porn sites for a certain fee. And here there was a misunderstanding about what amount she should receive and what amounts he should receive respectively for the whole activity.” said Zhivko Kotsev, Deputy Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to Boyadzhiev’s claims, he and Yana had gone to make another video and the girl asked him for 2000 BGN for it, then he killed her.
“Regarding the second murder, the perpetrator owed BGN 10,000 to the murdered boy. However, he needed BGN 15,000 to escape. In fact, that’s why he provoked a meeting with him to ask for an additional BGN 15,000. BGN, and according to his claims, he told what he did with the schoolgirl before she met him. He intended to leave the country through Turkey and go to fight, to join the Russia-Ukraine military operations. This is according to his testimony. These were his intentions. And he fully confirms his thesis that he quarreled with them for financial reasons. He himself admits that he has a huge financial debt of about BGN 150 thousand to various financial and credit institutions.” Zivko Kotsev also said.
Ivo Kolev refused to give money, then Boyadzhiev pulled out a gun and told him that he was going to blow him up. Kolev refused again and turned to leave. Boyadzhiev shot in the back and killed his second victim.
