This incident made many car drivers stop in the middle of the road and immediately collect the scattered money. Many videotaped the event and posted it on social media.
The large amount of notes were not only scattered in the middle of the road, but also on the edge of the toll road to the grass around it.
A motorist named Travis Fisher said at first he thought that a number of drivers got out of the car to help save someone who was injured. But in fact, the unexpected happened before his eyes.
“I saw something scattered and floating everywhere, then I just realized it was money. It was pretty crazy, along the way a lot of money was scattered,” said Fisher quoted from Fox 5.
California Police Sergeant Curtis Martin revealed that the back door of the armored truck suddenly opened on the highway, resulting in the money being transported also scattering along the road.
The truck driver who saw this incident immediately pulled over and tried to get the money back. But unfortunately, he lost quickly because the driver behind swiftly got down and took the money.

“If you find money scattered along the road, it’s not yours. The money will be owned by the FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation), armored trucks and also belongs to the bank. So the money must be returned,” said Martin.
For this incident, patrol officers from the California Police immediately went to the location to secure the scattered money. This method is done to prevent people who intentionally come just to steal the money.
Not only that, the police will also look for a number of people who were caught collecting the money. The police will investigate from the faces and license plates of the vehicles that are visible thanks to a number of videos circulating on social media.
The value of the scattered money was allegedly very large, reaching hundreds of millions when converted to rupiah. The San Diego Tribune said most of the money was in denominations of $1 and $20.
