Money goes 1: 1 to those affected

MAINZ – The fundraising campaign of the Mainzer Volksbank together with the Mainzer Bürgerstiftung came to an end with a total donation of 671,084 euros, well above the original expectations.

The total amount includes 223,695 euros from the donation pot of the MVB, which increased every donation received by 50 percent. Uwe Abel, CEO of MVB, is enthusiastic about the enormous willingness to donate: “The amount collected is great! In the run-up we had hoped for a lively participation and are enthusiastic about the commitment of the people. “

With a donation pot of originally 100,000 euros, the Mainzer Volksbank increased each donation by 50 percent. Due to the lively donation participation, this pot was expanded twice to a total of 200,000 euros during the campaign.

The donation should now find its way to the affected areas quickly and effectively. The Mainzer Bürgerstiftung and the Mainzer Volksbank pass the collected money 1: 1 on to the people affected by the disaster. For this purpose, contact was made with the mayors of the affected communities in order to inform the local people about the availability of donations. Those affected can contact the Mainz community foundation directly. Funds from the donation amount are then transferred directly to the accounts of the people in the flood areas.

These contributions were created in our editorial offices. To do this, we sift through press releases, material sent in and contributions from associations, organizations and administrations. All of this is then verified, processed and appropriately prepared by our editorial managers. Often this results in topics that we then take up later.
