Riedl found clear words for such considerations. Cash amounts paid out would therefore be an “attack on personal responsibility and civil society”. At the same time he addressed “a big thank you to all organizations, to the staff in the communities and to all volunteers”, the atmosphere was “great”, he emphasized. And appealed: “If we want to prevent a third lockdown, we will have to test.” Riedl therefore asked the mobilization of additional test-willing “to organize differently, but not with monetary amounts”.
Deputy Governor Stephan Pernkopf (ÖVP) said the same thing: “What annoys us is that at the federal level, thoughts are being rolled about to make any payments for taking part in tests. I am not in favor of replacing common sense and personal responsibility with cash, ”said Pernkopf. SPÖ state health councilor Ulrike Königsberger-Ludwig also clearly supported this opinion. Chains of infection would have to be broken.
In the office of Minister of Health Rudolf Anschober (Greens) one tries to calm down. “We are in the process of evaluating the need for and usefulness of incentives,” it says. Look for good cooperation with the countries.
