Auction house Sothebys has announced that Mondrian’s 1930 work “Composition No. II” has gone to an Asian bidder for about $51 million. Never paid more for a work by Mondrian. The autumn auctions are expected to continue throughout the week.
Auction house Christie’s had already presented last week and auctioned the large art collection of Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen for the record amount of about 1.6 billion dollars.
