Mondovì awards honorary citizenship to Montezemolo

(ANSA) – MONDOVÌ (CUNEO), 21 SEPTEMBER – The city of Mondovì has awarded honorary citizenship to Luca Cordero di Montezemolo during a ceremony held at the Museum of Ceramics. The reasons for the award include ‘his support for many social activities, particularly those dedicated to health research’; the results obtained in his long sporting career, as a racing manager and then president of Ferrari; ‘the ancestral bond that unites the Cordero di Montezemolo family to the Monregalese area, which over the centuries has become their natural area of ​​influence in which they have distinguished themselves in the graphic-literary, political and diplomatic fields’. ‘For me it is an important day – said Montezemolo – not only for the relationships that my family has always had with this area – my father fought as a partisan in these mountains – but also for the values ​​and civic sense that this land expresses, which have made my social commitment and that of Telethon easier, and which have always inspired my actions’. Montezemolo, who is now executive chairman of Italo spa and was, in addition to being number one at Ferrari, also chairman of Confindustria and Fieg and head of the organization of Italia ’90, emphasized that ‘Mondovì and the Monregalese are also a land of great motoring tradition, and I, who have dedicated a large part of my life to cars and competitions, cannot help but be proud to receive this citizenship, even if unfortunately it is sad and worrying that the Italian car industry is disappearing today’. Mayor Luca Robaldo and the president of the City Council Elio Tomatis thanked Montezemolo ‘for the availability and enthusiasm’ with which he accepted Mondovì’s invitation. ‘The honorary citizenship – they said – is a sign of symbolic gratitude for his commitment to health research and for his managerial work in the sports field, but also for the constructive approach and high institutional profile that he has been able to maintain in all the roles he has held’. On the occasion of the ceremony, a note states, Montezemolo also took part in the inauguration of the vintage car exhibition ‘Vincenzo Lancia: engineering meets design’ at the headquarters of Confindustria Cuneo.
