Monaco sticks to the original date

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, Monaco is sticking to its plans for the Formula 1 race in late May. The Grand Prix in Monte Carlo is expected to “take place as originally planned,” said the principality’s automobile club as the organizer.

In the original Formula 1 calendar, the race was scheduled for May 24 as the seventh World Championship run. After the short-term cancellation of the start in Australia and the postponement of the races in Bahrain, Vietnam and China, the racing series has to completely reorganize its schedules.

The Formula 1 top recently announced a start of the season for the end of May. This could make Monaco the place to restart. It is not clear what will happen to the races in Zandvoort and Montmelo / Barcelona, which were scheduled for May 3rd and 10th.
