Monaco, New York … Where are the most expensive square meters in the world?

The health crisis has severely penalized economic activity around the world, but real estate has held up rather well. In France, sales have declined little overall and professionals in the sector have adapted to the end of the first confinement so that transactions can continue. Luxury real estate, for its part, maintained high levels. For sales of more than 3 million euros, the year 2020 will have been almost as exceptional as 2019, according to the network of real estate agencies Daniel Féau, reports BFM.

On the other hand, the foreign clientele, and in particular American and Chinese, collapsed, giving way to European and French buyers in particular. Paris remains one of the most expensive cities in the world, one million dollars (839,000 euros approximately) allowing to acquire only 42 square meters in the City of Light, according to the last annual study of the British real estate company Knight Frank. In London, you can expect to buy a 31 m2 apartment with this sum. In New York, you gain a few square meters, reaching 34 m2 in total.

The real estate market is the most expensive in Hong Kong and Monaco. In the Principality, you can only get 15 m2 with a million dollars, as shown in the graph of Statista below.
