Monaco GP on TV: Leclerc is also cursed / Formula 1

Charles Leclerc was struck by the mysterious Drake curse in Barcelona. You can see whether the Ferrari star is recovering from this in Monaco at the weekend.

Charles Leclerc didn’t stand a chance. pole position? A strong Ferrari? The lead in the race? It didn’t matter at all, because the rapper Drake had put his “curse” on the Monegasque.

Before the sixth race of the season in Barcelona, the Canadian bet a whopping 220,000 euros on Leclerc’s victory. The possible prize: 550,000 euros. But Leclerc was eliminated. No wonder: Drake is known for bringing bad luck to many athletes in recent years if they had to deal with him in any form around an event. It was the artist’s first bet on a Formula 1 race.

A nice anecdote for superstitious people, because athletes like UFC superstar Conor McGregor or ex-boxing world champion Anthony Joshua as well as teams like Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund can actually sing a song about the fact that contact with the singer brings bad luck. They suffered bitter defeats afterwards.

In reality, the reason for failure at Leclerc was of course much more mundane: the engine went on strike. The next bad news followed on Monday evening, because after an initial analysis in Maranello, Ferrari found damage to the power unit that cannot be repaired.

The good news, according to a short statement from the racing team: The damage was not caused by a design error or a reliability problem with the engine.

The seventh race of the season is now in Monaco. At the classic in the Principality, qualifying is often crucial, and pole position is half the battle. And since the start of the season, Ferrari and Leclerc have been the measure of all things with a total of four poles. Strong prerequisites, then, to strike back. Unless Drake bets again.

If you don’t want to miss anything, you can find the TV broadcast times for the seventh race weekend in Monte Carlo here. Fans can also follow qualifying and the race in the live ticker on SPEEDWEEK.com.
