Monaco: Charlene’s first official release after a year of retirement

C’is the relief in Monaco. Their ghost princess has finally come back into the light: Charlene appeared with her family this weekend during the Monaco E-Prix car race (a competition with electric single-seaters). The Monegasques were able to see him in the official gallery in the company of Albert II and their twins, Jacques and Gabriella. For the occasion, the 44-year-old former swimming champion, dressed in an anthracite suit, sported a platinum blonde haircut with short hair on a made-up face. A new look for a new start?

It is the first time Charlene has taken part in an official protest in over a year, when she visited South Africa before extending her stay indefinitely. The Palace had mentioned health reasons, she would have undergone several operations related to “dental, nasal septum and sinus problems”, effectively prohibiting her from traveling by plane. The people press had evoked a private crisis, Charlene wanting to distance herself from a role of princess that she has always had difficulty in endorsing, rumors denied by Albert himself.

Cared for in Switzerland

Barely returned to Monaco, at the end of November, she left to isolate herself, officially to follow “a therapeutic retreat”. For several more months, she would thus have been treated in a Swiss establishment specializing in addictions, in particular for drug addiction… Caroline, please fill in the blanks in the photo. A delicate phase for the sovereign prince, who was going through at the same time an attempt at political destabilization aimed at the close circle of his faithful.

A first positive sign was sent for the Easter weekend, on April 17: the couple attended a private mass, before officially posing in a spring shot, surrounded by their children, with the occasional chocolate rabbit, broadcast on the Palace’s Instagram account. Two weeks later, her official appearance at the Monaco E-Prix, won by the Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne, confirmed Charlene’s return to the fore. That day, the princess seemed in pretty good shape, winning smiles at the photographers, even if her figure is still very slim, no doubt the result of her long recovery.

A body language expert questioned in the Daily Mail, judged, however, that the princess was still “distant and pensive”. “The choice of charcoal-colored pants and a jacket with padded shoulders suggests that she is ready to project a sense of strength and confidence,” she added. In any case, the royal chroniclers announce his presence at the Formula 1 Grand Prix at the end of the month, as well as at the traditional Rose Ball, next summer, one of the great social gatherings of the Rock. We cross fingers…
