Reported by AFP and CNN, Sunday (2/13/2022) it did not stop there, Mona’s head was paraded around the streets of the Ahvaz area, Iran. A video shows the sadistic act of Sayyad Heydari carrying Mona’s severed head with one hand and a knife in the other. Sayyad walks around with a smile in the Ahvaz neighborhood of a city in the southwestern province of Khuzestan, Iran on Saturday (5/2).
During her marriage, Mona experienced domestic violence. He had fled from Turkey for 4 months and returned after being persuaded by his father.
Upon his return from Turkey, Sajjad is assisted by his brother in killing Mona. They allegedly tied hands and beheaded Mona. Mona’s own body was dumped before Sajjad paraded his wife’s head through the streets.
According to the Fars news agency, Sajjad’s mother admitted that her son had threatened to kill his wife and claimed to be responsible for the murder.
As a result of the actions of Sajjad and his brother, they have now been arrested. But it is not clear what punishment they will face.

Married at the Age of 12
Mona, who is still Sajjad’s cousin, had been forced to marry him when he was just 12 years old. Mona often experiences domestic violence but still maintains her marriage for the sake of their 3 year old son.
In an interview with Mona’s father, he said he had obtained an official certificate to allow his son to marry. The minimum age for marriage in Iran is 13 years for girls and 15 years for boys. However, CNN has not been able to confirm how old Sajjad was when he married Mona.
