Jakarta –
The police confiscated new money of around Rp 3.73 billion from the JRS group (29) and friends taken from Batang, Central Java (Central Java). The police suspect that the cash will be sold to new currency exchange service stalls that are booming ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for Mojokerto City Police, AKP Riski Santoso, said that the initial cash was around Rp 5 billion. According to him, the third party expedition employee sent the new money from a bank in West Java to Batang Regency.
Arriving in Batang, the expedition service then handed over the money to JRS and friends. According to Riski, JRS is from Sidoarjo.
“There (Batang) there was an exchange of around Rp. 5 billion. Then the money was taken to East Java,” Riski told reporters at the Mojokerto City Police Headquarters, Jalan Bhayangkara, quoted from detikJatimThursday (21/4/2022).
Riski explained that JRS and 4 of his friends transported the money using a Daihatsu Gran Max car. They first sold around Rp 1.27 billion of the new money, which was still sealed with Bank Indonesia (BI) in Jombang and Nganjuk. The remaining Rp 3.73 billion was taken to Mojokerto.
Arriving at Jalan Raya Pagerluyung Village, Gedeg, Mojokerto, to be precise near the Mobar Toll Exit, Thursday (7/4) in the morning, JRS and his friends returned to meet the buyer. The buyer came to the location driving a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. “Those who drive the Pajero will exchange Rp. 400 million,” he explained.
