Today they want answers and tell the moving story of the last hours of their daughter, sent home several times by doctors in Rosas before being hospitalized in Figuères. There, the dying little girl cried out for her mother. “Mommy, no. Mommy, no,” she cried to her helpless mother.

“His condition worsened after taking medication”

Arriving in Figuères, “a pediatrician examined her,” the mother told the newspaper. The Spanish. “Nurses took a blood sample from him and gave him medicine.” “But as soon as she took the medicine, she started to swell and her condition got worse.”

Panicked, Érika Reina had to leave the treatment room. “I saw his foot, his leg. They turned red then purple and very hard.” Several doctors were called in for reinforcements. “Many health workers came to see and the pediatrician told me that they were treating my daughter.” A transfer to Girona hospital was even planned. “But suddenly they called us to tell us she was dead.”

A shock for Érika Reina. “I went in to hug her and she was stiff and cold. She had been dead longer,” she assured.

Sent home twice

The little girl died at Figuères hospital on the night of Tuesday September 17 to 18 after arriving there from the Rosas medical center. Two days earlier, Briana complained of stomach aches after vomiting “about ten times”, explained the mother.

The little girl had been sent home for a suspected seasonal virus linked to her recent entry into school. But on Monday, the little girl’s condition had not improved and she was taken to the family doctor. Same verdict for this doctor. “A virus and we were told to just make sure she didn’t get dehydrated,” her parents testified.

The next day, the stomach aches were accompanied by fever. The Rosas medical center then referred Briana to the Figuères hospital where she died during the night.
