Suzette Penton died of injuries sustained after being run over, on November 9, by a van in which several young people were traveling, whom she caught hitting her son.

According to authorities, the events occurred in early November when Elijah Stansell, 18, and three other teenagers, ages 14, 15 and 16, went to Penton’s home, looking for their son for a “romantic affair.”
The suspects knocked on Penton’s son’s front door, but Penton went out the side and into the garage to see who was there. The group ran to the scene and Stansell physically attacked him. Then, the young man tried to enter his house and at that moment the mother arrived, so the young people fled, relates the Polk County press release.

The driver is charged with murder in the first degree and is being held in jail.
