I’m almost wondering if I should change the subject of today’s column. If it is at all appropriate to write about how one enjoys oneself these days. I am full of grief from Ukraine. So I did a survey of my fans and they outvoted my backward thoughts. I think it’s right and important for our mental health. Live like before, have fun, read optimistic news. And also to help. Don’t drown in regret, though do anything that can help Ukraine. So now up to Iceland. I will be happy if your story pleases you and makes you forget for a moment what is happening around us.

Why Joseph gave me a pilgrimage ring
I have to say I don’t like winter, but this was wonderful. Josef and I have such a special style of travel, it could be called a turbo. We want to do a lot in a relatively short time. And it was no different in Iceland.
The first day was beautiful, we drove right after waking up to sunrise. He doesn’t leave here until nine o’clock. Iceland is a strange country, the morning is very dark and everyone is sleeping. In the Czech Republic, we used to be on our feet much earlier. Then we walked to the waterfalls. All the way I was cursing that I was going in sneakers and I was going after my husband, because of course he had to be the first on the hill.
At home, when Josef didn’t see it, I secretly packed my hat and gloves in my backpack. How grateful I was for them! The temperature kept dropping. We found ourselves in a beautiful place by the waterfall, Josef immediately started taking pictures. The sky turned orange and pink before the eyes, creating a charming backdrop to the icy waterfall. It was unreal.
At one point, Joseph hugged me from behind, took my hand in his, and put the ring on me. Birthday gift. He looks like a pilgrimage, I really wanted him. The one we bought happily when we went on pilgrimage. I wanted a diamond-shaped stone, but there is a heart on it. I understand he probably didn’t want to give me a diamond for his fifties.

Waterfall like a huge church frozen organ
We rented a car we both wanted to try – a Suzuki Jimny. It’s such a small box of matches that hunters probably use the most. We drove tens of kilometers, there was nothing far and wide. Iceland behaves differently in winter and differently in summer, now there have been a lot of frozen places. In the afternoon we reached other waterfalls, but we could not get to them by car because we would fall. So we had a few miles of crack in the cold.
Iceland is one big ice covered with snow. One has to be careful where one steps. But it paid off. The waterfall looked like a huge church frozen organ. Splendor! We made love and did not even manage to return to our beautiful secluded house, which was not alone at all, as they announced.
The next day our destination was Diamond Beach. Freshwater glaciers flow here, swimming into the sea and forming huge crystals. Along the way, we found a couple of beautiful beaches and got along pretty well. We played Czech songs and we were beautiful. The journey was long, challenging and windy. Moving the car in strong winds is not entirely pleasant. When we arrived at Diamond Beach, we found that the road we needed to drive on was closed. It made our lives quite complicated. The next day we had a departure home.
We had our asss pulled down so we wouldn’t fly
Fortunately, you can find everything on the Internet today. We found a hotel near which was a complete oasis and not just there. The road is often closed due to strong windwhich reaches up to 180 km / h. We waited in the hotel until morning, then we would raise the anchors. But the departure did not take place.
We couldn’t help but head back to Diamond Beach and take a picture in a different light. Opposite in the fresh water, penguins and seals roared. I love them. In the wind and frost, we watched them be amazing. If it wasn’t so cold, I’d be able to watch them for hours.
We went back to the hotel and tasted a Nordic specialty there – herring with bread and egg. We were afraid that maybe due to the wind we would not leave in the morning and we had a tight ass. We never have it easy. We wanted to try to get around the island on the other side, but it takes thirteen hours without a break. We couldn’t risk that.
How a piece of ice broke next to us
I was still waiting to see the aurora borealis. Unfortunately, this did not happen. Josef still planned to look at a wreck beach, which is photographed by almost everyone in Iceland. Unfortunately, we didn’t make it in the wind. Instead, we took pictures of another waterfall, this time in the dark with a headlamp, and there was also a swimming pool.
A piece of ice broke there at that moment, and I was almost there. In the morning we rejoiced at the airport that it was flying and I was looking forward to it all the more home. And then I finally figured out why I had to have those sneakers in -20 degrees. No Prague, but Malaga. Surprise from husband. That we would have a rest? Try to guess.
