A new low-cost airline from Iceland called MOM Air? We from the WingMag We were amazed when we stumbled upon the website of the so-called airline startup. After all, we know WOW Air as an Icelandic low-cost airline that was about to make a comeback earlier this year.
It really is a curiosity. Because MOM Air simply reflects the logo of WOW Air and also uses a corporate identity that looks very similar to the existing airline. Take a closer look at that Website, one quickly gets the impression that MOM Air is more of a joke. Although it is advertised with low airfare and a fleet of six Airbus A320neo, the content is also very questionable. The airline would like to offer “COVID flights” in which people can be shown to be infected with non-infected people in one machine. Furthermore, the first two tickets should be free of charge on every flight and things like toilet paper and hand soap are to be paid for on board.
We may know more on November 11th, as an official press conference has been announced for that day. However, our assumption is that it is a marketing gag initiated by WOW Air. After all, there have been no official updates on the comeback for months. In addition, it would have been expected that WOW Air would distance itself due to the likelihood of confusion and the strange statements made by MOM Air. However, this did not happen. We estimate that there will be no news about the StartUp on November 11th, but about WOW Air.
