According to data collected by the car dealer “Moller Auto” in the Baltic countries, the demand for new cars increased by 33% in September this year compared to the corresponding period last year.
Although there are cars whose delivery may take longer, in total, 97 new cars are immediately available in the company’s showrooms and warehouses in Latvia and another 66 zeros will be delivered as manufactured vehicles in October.
The “Moller Auto” data shows that the most readily available car models currently in Latvia are “Volkswagen Taigo”, “Volkswagen T-Cross”, “Audi Q5”, “Audi A6”, “Volkswagen T-Roc”. , “Audi Q8” and “Volkswagen Arteon”.
“The delivery of cars to dealerships is affected by factors such as the semiconductor or chip crisis, supply chain challenges, etc., but it cannot be said that there are no new cars on the market that are available for use. immediately after purchase. There are over 280 “Moller Auto” dealerships in the Baltics. Traditionally, the busiest time for buying new cars is summer, but this year we see activity higher than usual in September as well. On the one hand, this may indicate a gradual recovery of the market, on the other, many unknowns await us, on how the energy crisis and inflation will develop, which will affect the economy as a whole and therefore also the purchasing power of companies. and citizens. However, in any case, there is currently no reason to believe that buying a new car is an unachievable goal, “says Izīda Gerkena, executive director of the” Moller Auto “group of companies in the Baltic states.
He adds that the increase in demand for new cars is also confirmed by data from the Lithuanian market research company “Auto tyarimi”, that is, new car registrations in the Baltic countries in August and September of this year are 6% and the 14% more, respectively, compared to the same months of 2021.
“It should be emphasized that when we supply warehouses with new cars, we also take demand trends into account, so in October not only vehicles with internal combustion engines, but also electric car models such as” Audi Q4 e-tron “and” Volkswagen ID.5 “will be brought by manufacturers. Recently, the popularity of electric cars has been influenced by the fact that people are actively installing solar panels in private homes, as well as by fluctuations in the price of fuel and economic considerations, as the cost of ‘electricity is lower than the cost of fuel. At the same time, in October of this year, 78 previously purchased cars for which contracts have already been concluded will be available to our Latvian customers. These are mainly vehicles such as “Volkswagen Transporter” “,” Volkswagen Golf “,” Audi e-tron “,” Volkswagen T-Cross “and the particularly popular” Volkswagen Tiguan “, says I. Gerkena.
