Bauke Mollema has brilliantly won the 58th edition of the Trofeo Laigueglia. The Trek rider entered the finish line solo after 202 kilometers.
The victory of the 34-year-old rider showed similarities with his victory in the Tour of Lombardy in 2019. At 16 kilometers from the finish, he broke away from a very strong leading group. Because his teammate Giulio Ciccone (the winner in 2020) was also in that group, the chase did not start immediately.
Mollema took a 15-count hole and when Egan Bernal, Mikel Landa and Clément Champoussin got on the pedals on the tough last climb, the bird had already flown.
