MOJOKERTO (WartaTransparansi.com) –The Mojokerto government held mass devotional work in the neighborhood around its house involving all PNS/ASN/PPPK members together with residents starting at the RT/RW level throughout Mojokerto City during the holiday season on Sunday (31/3/2024) morning. This event, working together with government officials and citizens simultaneously, focuses on the Eradication of 3 Mplus Mosquito Nests (PSN), with the aim of breaking the chain of spread of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF).
Acting Mayor Ali Kuncoro said that East Java’s dengue fever cases are currently experiencing a spike and the most effective way to overcome and prevent the spread of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is to strengthen the 3 MPlus Mosquito Nest Eradication Movement (PSN).
“To prevent dengue fever, awareness is needed from all parties to get used to instilling a culture of clean living in themselves and their respective environments,” said Mas Acting.
According to Ali Kuncoro, without ignoring the clean Friday activities which have become a culture among the residents and the Mojokerto City Government, in this morning’s mass community service, the main target for Mas Pj was to clean up places that have the potential to become breeding grounds for mosquitoes, such as used goods. if it could be used as a rainwater reservoir.

“Meanwhile, the pluses include working together to clean the environment, planting plants that can ward off mosquitoes such as lavender, lemongrass and mint leaves, checking places used for water reservoirs (1 house 1 jumantik), providing larvicide in reservoirs. water that is difficult to drain and put used clothes in a closed container,” he explained.
“We hope that this mass community service can be a turning point to increase the awareness of all residents of Mojokerto City in working together to maintain cleanliness in their respective environments, so that there is no longer any place for mosquito larvae to breed,” he hoped.
Regarding fogging or fumigation, Dr. Farida emphasized that it is not the best solution to prevent dengue fever, because there are many side effects from fumigation because mosquitoes become more resistant so it is more difficult to eradicate and it only kills adult mosquitoes, the larvae of which are still alive.
“Fogging also causes environmental pollution, besides being dangerous for humans, such as being carcinogenic, causing cancer, damaging the lungs, reducing the immune system and can even damage the genes and chromosomes of the fetus, making the fetus susceptible to defects,” concluded Dr. Farida.
