On this Sunday afternoon, the senior girls of the MCBB received the Gimbelet team at home. This is the third time the two teams have met this season. We were able to witness a very good victory for the locals who dominated their opponent throughout the game.

From the start of the match, the “Red and White” set up a fast, collective and precise attacking game; this allowed them to lead very quickly to the score thanks to a good skill in shooting in the race and free throws obtained on faults of the opponent. In addition, the MCBB players resisted Gimbelet’s attacks well thanks to a solid defense. Visitors failed to install their game and struggled to complete their actions. The locals didn’t give up throughout the game and their combativeness allowed them to widen a significant gap in the score (more than 60 points difference) at the end of the game. The MCBB players put on a great show for their supporters who came in large numbers to encourage them. Thanks to them and see you in Rignac for their next match, Sunday February 5th.

Significant away success for senior boys 1

Regional 2 Men’s phase 2: MBC 2 68 / MCBB 72 (half-time 30/43; quarter-time 16/18, 14/25, 19/16, 19/13; free throws 13/20, 3 successes at 3pts).

For the MCBB: Rup 15pts, Leitner 9pts, Azahaf (cap) 8pts, Pautot, Pedelmas 2pts, Carel 21pts, Daguzan 9pts, Fornieles 3pts, Ben Arrais 5pts. Coach: Matthieu Tinseau.

Matthieu Tinseau’s men have just scored an oh so important away success in this new championship where all the teams are fighting to maintain it. A first away victory against their Montalban counterparts is reassuring and already puts this opponent two points behind.

The start of the match saw two teams go blow for blow with the home side basing their attacks on individual actions, the other visitors dominating in the interior sector while alternating winning shots to thwart the opposing area . A balanced first QT (16/18) which will be followed by a much more prolific second period for the “Rouge et Blanc” where Carel continues to pound the racket and Rup at the outside address found, Montauban caught in the Mcbbist vice gives ground to reach the break with a deficit of 13pts (30 to 43).

A group in progress

The recovery sees a new match with more incisive locals and its number 10 which garners the points while causing a lot of faults on our interiors sanctioned by free throws. The gap is reduced for a differential of 7 pts in the 5th (41/48), the visitors are struggling to put the game down and can no longer weigh on the defense, the 3rd QT will however be reached with a lead 10pts for our colors (49/59). A bad start to the final period benefits Montauban, much more aggressive, which leads to losses of opposing balls and counter-attack baskets, the 10 pts lead is only three in the 4th (59/ 62).

The restoration of the zone defense will again stabilize the “Red and White” who gradually regain control of the game to finally win this meeting with the score of 68 to 72. If this victory was hard obtained, it nevertheless remains significant for a group that continues to progress, particularly in the management of critical moments. Congratulations to our boys who are starting this second phase well, to be confirmed next Saturday with a new trip, this time to Saint-Jory.

“If the last meetings had ended with a significant gap, this victory, against a Montalban team which did not give up, allowed my players to be reactive at key moments and to capitalize on confidence”, rejoices coach Mathieu.

A little weekend for young people

This Saturday, January 21, only 6 MCBB teams were on the floor. Alone, the U11s played at home and they won against Montauban, remaining undefeated since October.

For the teams playing away, the U13-3 went to win in Cahors. Unfortunately, the other teams failed to defeat their opponents: the U11-1s lost to Montauban, the U11-2s lost to Labastide-du-Temple, the U13 girls suffered a heavy defeat at Roquettes and the U20s suffered another defeat against TCMS.

Congratulations to the U11 girls who continue their little way with great success as well as to the U13-3 who won their first match.

Good luck to the other teams. And see you next weekend with more teams in play!
