Kolkata: The reigning champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant started the 10th season of the Indian Super League with a win. Bagan defeated Punjab FC who entered the Super League from the I-League. The team won by three goals to one.
Bagan netted in the 10th minute at home in Salt Lake. Jason Cummins scored for Bagan. Bagan scored their second goal in the 35th minute through striker Dimitri Petratos. The first half ended 2-0.
But Punjab stepped up their attacks to fight back in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Bagan were shocked and pulled a goal back. Striker Luca Mason was the target. But Punjab’s laughter did not last long. In the 64th minute, Manvir Singh found a place on the scoreboard and Punjab went on the defensive. Defending against Bagan’s attacks, Punjab ended the match without conceding any more goals.
