Indian Super League defending champions Mohun Bagan have sacked Supergiants coach Juan Ferrando.
The team sacked the head coach after Mohun Bagan’s poor performance this season.
Mohun Bagan has lost three matches in a row for the first time in the history of Indian Super League. Bagan lost against Mumbai City FC, FC Goa and Kerala Blasters. After this, the club management fired Juan.
Juan Mohun is taking over as Bagan’s coach from FC Goa last season. Juan managed to make Mohun Bagan the ISL champions in his first season. Mohun Bagan also won the Durand Cup this season under Juan.
Mohun Bagan’s former coach Antonio Lopez Habas has been appointed as the replacement for Juan Herando.
Habas coached Mohun Bagan in 2014, 2016, 2019 and 2021 seasons. They have been champions twice under Habas in 2014 and 2019 seasons.
Mohun Bagan will play in the upcoming Super Cup tournament under Habas. Hyderabad FC, East Bengal FC and Srinidhi Deccan are in Group A of the Super Cup. The fans are hoping that the return of the old coach will bring about a big change in the team’s performances.
Currently, Mohun Bagan is at the fifth position in the ISL with 19 points, including six wins, one draw and three losses from ten matches.
Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan’s next match in the Super Cup is against Srinidhi Deccan on January 9.
