Mohanlal didn’t agree to change the script, the film failed – Salaam Bapu

Red Wine is a film directed by Salam Bapu and starring Mohanlal, Asif Ali, Fahadh Faasil and many more. Director Salam Bapu talks about why the film didn’t achieve the desired success.

The director said that he told Mohanlal that he changed the script of the film and told him that the script was not written with Mohanlal in mind. But Bapu said that he didn’t agree to change the script because he liked the script of the film. Salam Bapu said these things in an interview with Master Bin Channel.

“I told this story to Lal sir in October 2012. After I told the story, I texted him next month on Kerala’s birthday. Later he called me and told me to start the film.

I didn’t do any pre-preparation just thinking I would do it after three or four months. That’s why when she said it, there was fear. Subsequently, the support of the producers and distributors helped the film launch in November itself.

Thus, script correction, location scouting, songwriting and casting all happened in a very short period of time. Lal sir sometimes says some movies happen. Red Wine is a film that happened like this.

I had expressed a doubt to Lal sir at the time. This is not a script written in front of Lal, sir. Of course, this is not the kind of character that those who love the gentleman want. He’s the kind of character that the gentleman doesn’t. So I told him that I wanted to make the film giving more importance to the character of Lal sir.

I said ok this movie. If you change this film and script it in a different way, then I can only make a decision after hearing the script. Now I said ok because of this story and script. The movie is important.

My character is important in the film. This is not a movie that I need to include songs or fight scenes. I too am interested in watching these movies. People who love me will also want to watch this movie and that’s why I’m making this movie. The gentleman told me there is no need to change.

We shot the film without seeing any actors. Mohanlal had no mass quarrels or talks. There will be people who will want to see it. “Some people who saw the film said that the film with Fahadh and Asif Ali would be influenced by the fact that there is no such thing,” said Salam Bapu.
