Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has revealed that Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman secretly agreed to the Abraham Accords. Photos/Illustrations
This was stated by former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in his new book, Never Give an Inch: Fighting for the America I Love.
According to Pompeo, the US is trying hard to bring Saudi Arabia into the deal.
“We are very close, thanks in large part to Mohammed bin Salman,” he said Al ArabiaSaturday (28/1/2023).
An excerpt from the chapter on normalization goes as follows: “The world is indebted to him for what he did. It is not easy for the Saudi Arabian leader to approve steps towards peace with Israel. Saudi Arabia occupies a special place in Islam, not least because it hosts the major pilgrimage, the Hajj, and is home to the first and second holiest places in Islam in the cities of Mecca and Medina.”
He then praised bin Salman by saying no Saudi Arabian leader had ever moved this quickly to reform the Kingdom.

“And I’ll bet that no other leader can do it,” he said.
According to Pompeo, the figure who is fondly called MBS will become one of the most important leaders of his time.
In his book, Pompeo also devotes much of the US-Saudi Arabia relationship and defends the need for close ties with Riyadh.
