Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, which was established in 2016, succeeded in graduating more than 300 graduates, 40% of whom are citizens. The university offers 10 accredited academic programs in various health specialties, benefiting nearly 400 students, in addition to 33 accredited training programs in postgraduate medical studies, benefiting 543 postgraduate students.
Ahmed Al-Awadi, Senior Director of the Admission and Registration Department at the university, told Al-Bayan that the university has 956 male and female students, including 51 in the Hamdan bin Mohammed College of Dentistry, 348 in the College of Medicine, 14 in the College of Nursing and Midwifery, and 543 in the Deanship of Postgraduate Medical Studies.

He explained that the PhD program in biomedical sciences at the university aims to train, develop and prepare local scientific competencies and support research in biomedical sciences in the country, pointing out that it combines scientific knowledge and practical skills in biomedical sciences, and is carried out through intensive training in laboratory research in the university’s advanced research facilities such as the Mohammed bin Rashid University Center for Medicine and Health Sciences for Biomedical Research with the support of the Al Jalila Foundation, which is an advanced research facility that focuses on research related to cancer, obesity, diabetes, mental disorders and research topics related to local, regional and global health challenges.
Al-Awadi stated that the program provides doctoral students, through global research partnerships, with opportunities to cooperate with leading research institutions locally and globally to publish research in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and prepares them for advanced academic work opportunities in addition to specialized research opportunities.

Regarding the most prominent achievements of the university, Al-Awadhi explained that the university is part of the Dubai Academic Health Corporation, the first integrated academic health system in the Emirate of Dubai. He added: The university has gained high confidence from the Ministry of Education, and was chosen as one of the local universities by the ministry to launch the first phase of the automatic certification service for digital certificates, and has produced more than 1,000 refereed scientific research in seven years.
And he indicated that the university is the first academic institution that has an academic partnership with Mediclinic Middle East to train students, pointing out that medical students start their field visits from the first year, in addition to their training in an integrated simulation center equipped with the latest technical equipment so that the student can practice and deal with different pathological scenarios through devices that simulate reality in its finest details.
He pointed out that the anatomy laboratory at the university is equipped with the latest screens, and rare scenes of anatomy are broadcast to students clearly so that the student can obtain his full share of knowledge before moving to the hospital and dealing directly with the patient.

Al-Awadi said: “The university is the first academic institution to offer a summer training program for medical students in international research centers and laboratories, as well as universities and hospitals inside and outside the country, since the first year of study.

Ahmed Al-Awadi said: The College of Medicine offers bachelor’s programs in medicine and surgery, a master’s of science in biomedical sciences, and a doctorate in biomedical sciences. Hamdan bin Mohammed College of Dentistry also offers a group of specialized postgraduate programs in root canal treatment, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and periodontal sciences.
The College of Nursing and Midwifery offers two graduate programs, namely, a Master of Science in Cardiovascular Nursing, and a Master of Science in Pediatric Nursing, while the Deanship of Postgraduate Medical Studies offers a variety of specialty programs such as residency programs in pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and general surgery, and fellowship programs such as child and adolescent psychiatry, hematology, gastroenterology, and two excellence programs in medicine and dentistry.
Regarding the Master of Science program in Cardiovascular Nursing, he explained that it was designed to provide students with the knowledge and practical experience necessary to treat and care for patients with cardiovascular diseases, while the Master of Science program in Pediatric Nursing provides theoretical knowledge and practical skills to care for children in general and sick children in particular.
The two programs aim to prepare specialized and qualified nurses to occupy leadership positions in the clinical field by providing them with the required clinical knowledge, skills and critical thinking skills. The two programs provide students with a 12-week clinical training opportunity at the Belfast Health and Social Care Institution, to train them to provide high-quality care and develop their skills in specialized nursing fields and in specific clinical training centers.
The speaker emphasized the university’s endeavor to qualify young national cadres in the various fields of medicine and health sciences, and to provide them with the necessary expertise and knowledge that will qualify them to be leaders in the health care sector in the future, pointing out that there are national students in all programs offered by the university.
Scholarships
Regarding scholarships, he said: The university offers scholarships for various programs, including a 100% scholarship for PhD students and another 50% scholarship for Master of Science in Nursing students, as well as scholarships for MBBS students who excel academically.
