Among the honorees was Mahmoud Waheed, whose initiative “Meanna to Save a Person” focuses on sheltering the homeless, notably the elderly. The project offers comprehensive health and psychological care, rehabilitation, and family reunification with the help of volunteers.
Another notable honoree was Nawal Mustafa from Egypt. Her initiative addresses the needs of female prisoners and their children. Through various projects and programs, she rehabilitates and trains female prisoners in crafts and manual professions to support themselves and their families.She also established the Association for the Care of Prisoners to highlight the conditions of children living with their mothers in prison.
Supporting Heart Patients
The closing ceremony of the Hope Makers Initiative saw the proceeds directed towards the Majdi Yaqoub Charitable Hospital project in Egypt. This hospital, dedicated to treating heart diseases, will provide free treatment and perform over 12,000 surgeries annually, focusing on children from the Arab world. The hospital will allocate 70% of its operations for free treatment.
Several businessmen and companies in the Emirates contributed to the establishment and equipment of the hospital. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, announced a contribution matching the total donations from businessmen, doubling the amount to 88 million dirhams.
