DUBAI, 18th April, 2020 (WAM) — The “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Sports Creativity,” one of the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives,” continues to receive nomination files for the twelfth round of the award, which is sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince. Dubai Chairman of the Executive Council, and chaired by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the National Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council.
The Board of Trustees of the Award, chaired by His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, announced the opening of nominations for the twelfth session in early April 2022, and it will continue until August 31, 2023, as there are only about 130 days left to complete the submission of files for those with achievements that were made during the period of achievements that qualify to compete to win their categories. It is from September 16, 2021 to August 31, 2023.
The date for honoring the winners has been set to be during January 2024, and it is emphasized that the door will continue to be opened for public participation in voting to select the winners from the six junior category who are nominated for the final stage, where the public vote will have 50% of the final result, and the jury’s decision will have 50% of the result. final.
During the past 11 sessions, the award received 2,597 files for the candidates, including 748 from the UAE, 1,621 from the Arab countries, and 228 at the global level. Geographically, 124 winners and honorees were from the UAE, 116 from Arab countries, and 18 at the global level.
The number of candidates for the 11th session alone amounted to 409 male and female athletes who collectively achieved 300 mathematical achievements, 29 mathematical innovations, 26 mathematical scientific productions, and 54 projects, initiatives and sports programs.
The award announced the continuation of candidacy through the website and application of the award, which also allows registration, submission of the candidacy file and uploading the required documents, which makes the application process easier and faster according to clear registration mechanisms and steps.
The remote arbitration system will also continue to be implemented through the presence of each referee in his country and without the need to gather and arbitrate as work teams, provided that the arbitration files are distributed to them with a mechanism that prevents the inclusion of any referee to arbitrate any file of an athlete or institution from his country.
The Board of Trustees confirmed that the award maintained the value of the financial prizes that are distributed in each session, in the twelfth session, as the value of the prizes is 7 million and 500 thousand dirhams, which is an amount that exceeds two million US dollars.
Preserving the value of the awards comes in order to support the athletes and continue to encourage and honor them with prizes that are the largest ever in sports awards in the world, and the competitive categories in the award have been preserved along with the special discretionary categories.
The award categories are divided into the individual sports creativity category, the collective sports creativity category, and the institutional creativity category.
While the levels of the award vary between the local level for athletes and sports institutions in the United Arab Emirates, the Arab level for athletes and sports institutions from all Arab countries, and the global level for international sports federations, Olympic and Paralympic committees and international sports institutions.
