One of the leaders of the Islamist militants who helped bring down his regime Bashar al-Assad has been appointed interim prime minister of Syria, according to its state television Syria.
Mohamed al-Bashir used a televised address to state that he will remain in the post until March 1, 2025 to lead the transitional government.
Al-Bashir headed the rebel-led Salvation Government – which already ruled parts of northwestern Syria and Idlib – before the blitzkrieg of the past two weeks.
