Mohammad Ahsan Tells the Chronology of Forced to Resign from All England

Just finished competing, men’s doubles Hendra Setiawan / Mohammad Ahsan must face the harsh reality. They were forced to withdraw from the prestigious All England 2021 tournament after receiving a warning from the British government because they were on an airplane with a passenger who was detected positive for Covid-19.

Not only Hendra / Ahsan, all Indonesian teams were forced to resign for the same reason.

“He must have been very surprised because he was told that I finished playing. When we finish playing we usually meet the coach and coincidentally there are Rionny (Mainaky) and Herry (Iman Pierngadi) but I see how their faces are not good, even though I won? ” said Ahsan to Bolalob.

“After playing, we usually discuss the game first, but they say we all have to go home, tomorrow we can’t play anymore,” continued the 2014 and 2019 All England Champion.

Not only surprised, at that time Hendra / Ahsan wondered why they could not continue the match in the second half. Hendra / Ahsan passed the first match against the host’s representatives, Sean Vendy / Ben Lane, with a score of 21-18, 19-21, 21-19.

When he returned to the hotel with Hendra, Ahsan was still discussing this matter with his partner. They still couldn’t believe they had to lift the suitcase from the All England.

“We are both wondering, why did this happen, what was the reason we had to resign. This is indeed dealing directly with the British government, and I don’t think everyone can do anything about it, “said Ahsan.

Surprisingly, Ahsan did not receive a warning email from the UK National Health Service (NHS), while Hendra received a warning letter because he was thought to have had close contact with a passenger detected by Covid-19.

“I didn’t get an email, even though on the plane, I was sitting next to him, Hendra,” said Ahsan.

Apart from Ahsan, there are three people in the Indonesian team who also did not receive a warning email from the NHS, they are Irwansyah (Men’s Singles Assistant Coach), Iwan Hermawan (Head of the Sports Science Sub-section) and Gilang (a massage expert).

Even though he did not receive the email, Ahsan was still unable to continue the match because Hendra had received an email warning and could not compete.
