Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Mohamed Salah scored, on Tuesday, a goal and made another, in the confrontation between his English team, Liverpool, against Real Madrid, Spain, which ended with the latter’s victory 5/2, in the first leg of the round of 16 in the Champions League.
The Egyptian striker succeeded in providing a decisive pass to his colleague Darwin Nunez to score the first goal in the 4th minute, and he was able to visit the “Merengue” net at the 14th minute, after he took advantage of the opponent’s goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois.
After contributing two goals against Real Madrid, Salah achieved a number of records in the (Champions League) competition.
Mohamed Salah became Liverpool’s top scorer in European competitions in history with 42 goals, surpassing former player Stephen Gerrard, who scored 41 goals.
While the 30-year-old striker became the most goal-making player in the “Reds” in the Champions League, with 13 solid passes.
Salah equaled with Ivorian Didier Drogba as the most African player to score the net in the (Champions League) competition, with 44 goals for each of them, according to the “Opta” website, which specializes in sports statistics.
The “Pharaohs” striker also strengthened his lead in the Champions League’s top scorer rankings, this season, with 8 goals.
